Company Description (Source)
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapies that
reimagine the treatment of blood coagulation disorders to sustain life and human
resilience. Our mission is to build the leading coagulation company by
discovering, developing, and commercializing innovative therapies for the
millions of patients worldwide suffering from serious bleeding and thrombotic
diseases. Coagulation disorders encompass a broad and heterogeneous group of
conditions, and many patients experience significant life-long disease burden
due to either a lack of available prophylactic therapies or limitations
associated with existing treatment approaches.
Our lead asset, sutacimig (HMB-001), is a bispecific antibody currently in Phase
1/2 clinical development for the prophylactic treatment of Glanzmann
thrombasthenia and Phase 2 clinical development for the prophylactic treatment
of Factor VII deficiency. Our second clinical-stage asset, HMB-002, is a
monovalent antibody in Phase 1/2 clinical development for the subcutaneous
prophylactic treatment of Von Willebrand Disease. We are also advancing multiple
preclinical and discovery-stage assets.
We estimate that there are approximately an aggregate of 10,000 patients with
Glanzmann thrombasthenia and Factor VII deficiency and an aggregate of 120,000
patients with Von Willebrand Disease in the geographies where we intend to
commercialize our assets, including the United States, the European Union,
Japan, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and other select regions. With
greater disease burden awareness, potential regulatory approvals of new
prophylactic options and expanding global reach of these options, we believe the
overall number of addressable patients for our clinical-stage assets, and
preclinical and discovery stage programs could be greater than we currently
estimate.
We aim to establish the industry’s leading coagulation franchise through the
execution of our “Hemab 2x3 by 2030” strategic roadmap, which is designed to
build a franchise consisting of 2 commercial medicines, 2 new late-stage
clinical programs, and 2 new early-stage clinical programs by 2030. We have not
yet initiated pivotal trials for any of our product candidates, and due to the
novel and unproven nature of our programs, their current stage of development
and the lack of approved prophylactic therapies to inform endpoint selection and
trial design, we may not be able to achieve our strategic goals on the timeline
we expect or at all.
